About Us
We are passionate dog people who share a deep appreciation for the Boxer breed. We are small hobby breeders dedicated to preserving and improving this incredible breed.
Our story began over 26 years ago when Rob brought home his very first Boxer, Duke. He was the dog who started it all. Duke sparked a lifelong passion for the breed that continues to shape everything we do today. About 18 years ago, I joined the journey. At the time, Rob already shared his life with four Boxers. Although I had grown up with dogs and had been actively involved in dog rescue and training, it was Rob who introduced me to the world of purebred dogs, responsible breeding, and conformation showing. It didn't take long before I was completely hooked.
Over the years, our priorities shifted as we focused on raising our family and building our farm, and our breeding program naturally took a back seat. While we stepped away from the show ring for a time, our love for the breed never faded. In 2022, after a long hiatus, we welcomed our first Boxer litter under the Hive prefix and were excited to begin the next chapter of our breeding program.
Today, our kennel remains intentionally small. We breed for ourselves first and foremost, carefully planning litters with the goal of keeping the next generation to continue improving our program. Because of this, we breed only occasionally and never on a large scale. Every breeding is thoughtfully planned with an emphasis on quality over quantity.
Our breeding philosophy is simple: produce Boxers that are structurally sound, healthy, and true to the breed standard while possessing the stable, outgoing temperaments that make Boxers such exceptional companions. Health testing, careful pedigree research, and thoughtful selection of breeding stock are fundamental to every decision we make. We strive to produce dogs that can excel both in the conformation ring and as cherished family members.
One of the greatest joys of our kennel is sharing this passion with our children, especially our daughter, who is deeply involved in Junior Handling. Watching her step into the ring with dogs we've bred, raised, and loved is incredibly rewarding and one of the most meaningful parts of this journey. Seeing the next generation develop the same respect for responsible breeding, good sportsmanship, and the Boxer breed reminds us why we do what we do.
Above all, we breed because we love Boxers. Every litter represents years of planning, learning, and dedication to preserving the qualities that make this breed so special. Our goal has never been to produce the most puppies—it has always been to produce the best dogs we can, contributing positively to the future of the Boxer breed while placing each puppy in a home where it will be loved for a lifetime.
PHILOSOPHY & MISSION
At Hive Boxers, we are dedicated to breeding healthy, conformationally correct and temperamentally sound boxers, that will make wonderful family pets and can excel in the show ring. We are committed to upholding the high standards of breeding ethics and to providing our homes with support throughout the lifetime of their boxer.
We believe that proper socialization is essential for the development of a well-rounded and confident puppy. Our program is based on two highly respected puppy socialization programs: Puppy Culture and Avidog. Our socialization program includes exposing our puppies to a variety of sights, sounds, and experiences, including different types of surfaces, people of all ages and genders, other animals, and more. We provide our puppies with plenty of playtime, exercise, and mental stimulation to help them develop their cognitive and physical abilities.. Our puppy socialization program is designed to give our puppies the best possible start in life, setting them up for a lifetime of happiness and success with their new families.
We use Apet Temperament Testing to assess each puppy's unique personality traits and temperament. This allows us to help place our puppies into the best matched homes for both puppy and buyer.
